Kat Wells Jewellery

New Zealand based contemporary jewellery artist

about me

I am a contemporary jewellery artist based in the Wāitakere Ranges in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

handmade

Every piece is designed and made by hand by me in my studio using traditional silversmithing techniques.

inspiration

I make pieces that reflect the world around me using a combination of silver, gold, other metals, gemstones, and found objects.

Wearable sculpture

I see jewellery as a meeting place between art and everyday life and like to use texture and shape in playful ways to create fun, wearable pieces.

beauty of imperfection

I celebrate irregularity, texture, and the marks left by making. They are evidence of the handmade process and give each piece its own character.

Designed to last

I create jewellery intended to be treasured for years. I hope each piece gathers memories, marks, and meaning as it accompanies everyday life.

slow making

Taking time allows ideas to develop naturally, with each stage considered, refined and finished by hand.

wearing my pieces

My work is intended to encourage curiosity, conversation and connection.

limited collections

I produce small collections and one-of-a-kind works. This allows each design to evolve organically and ensures every piece retains its individuality.
